Wednesday, June 10, 2009

SYRACUSE, NY – After a fun-filled and exciting weekend in Québec, it's back up to the French-speaking province just east of Canada’s capital, Ottawa. Autodrome Edelweiss Speedway will hold the first of two Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprint events this Friday, and the 25-Lap A-Main is a vital part of the Northwood 2 Construction/LaSalle Motorsports Canadian Sprint Car Series, as well.

After four full events into the still-young 2009 racing season, the title fights are already heated up. Lance Yonge has a slim lead over Drummond winner, Chuck Hebing, and Justin Barger. Defending champion and Granby winner, Steve Poirier, is currently sitting in fourth in points with Tim Kelly following closely in fifth.

In the Canadian Sprint Series, Poirier is leading Hebing, Alain Bergeron, Barger, and Jeff Cook. All these stars will be in the pits at Edelweiss along with Tommy Wickham, Brian McDonald, Lee Ladouceur, Michael Parent, Anthony Cain, Jim Porter, Daniel Lampron, and Normand Beaudreault. Expect visits from Rick and April Wilson, Justin Harris, and the debuts of Paul Pekkonen, Sylvain Ericksen, and Erin Joyce.

There will be three Car Mate Custom-Built Trailer, Centre de Beauté 360's Cobra Coaches Dash, and the KSE Racing Products' B-Main, with the 25-lap finale awarding $1,725 to win with the A-Main green paying $375.
