Autodrome Edelweiss Speedway, Cantley, Quebec, Canada.
Autodrome Edelweiss Speedway is in Cantley, Quebec, an obscure spot just a mere 20 minutes north of Ottawa, Canada’s capital. Over the past two decades, the track has gone through several owners and promoters but has found a very solid base with Serge Lagace holding the controls.
Facility upgrades, larger purses, and increased car counts have added to the success of this exciting one-third-mile oval which has a future that looks bright for many years to come. Lagace has a good crew and marketing team in place, so Edelweiss is growing by leaps and bounds.
Bleachers run from turn four to turn one, and a new VIP tower was built last year. The pits are located right off turn four, giving the fans a great view of the action, both in the pits and on the track. Of course, in the Quebecois tradition, you can enter the pits by paying a few dollars more for your admission.
The Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints will be making two stops here in 2009; their history at Edelweiss is unique in that during the 21 events that have been held here since 1990, there have been 18 different winners. Speeds are fast and 25-lap A-Mains can be done in mere minutes. The winged warriors will invade next on June 12th and July 17th.
Drivers of local interest will be headed by Lee Ladouceur, and rookies Sylvain Ericksen and Erin Joyce will be in the pits.
