Brighton Speedway Presents ...
Benson Auto Parts Applefest 358 Dirt Modified Shootout
On Saturday September 26th at 7 p.m. the mighty 358 DIRTcar Modifieds will meet on Brighton Speedway’s 1/3-mile clay oval. The stars and their cars will fight it out for 50 laps in the Benson Auto Parts 358 Applefest Shootout presented by ImageFactor.ca.
The 5th annual Applefest Shootout main event will showcase some of the best dirt modified drivers from across Ontario, upstate New York, and Quebec. Past winners include Kyle Dingwall, Mario Clair and Pete Bicknell. This year the icing on the cake for the $2,000.00-to-win event is that it is DIRTcar sanctioned, and it is also a qualifying event for the 2009 Salute The Troops 150 at the Syracuse Mile.
Also taking place Saturday is the Lucas Oil Clash For Cash. This event is a 15-lap dash that pits the best from the eastern-based Lucas Oil Canadian Series against the best from the western-based Lucas Oil Shootout Series. This special race will see the top drivers compete for a $5,000.00 purse!
Guaranteed starters for the 2009 edition of the Lucas Oil Clash For Cash include the 2009 Lucas Oil Canadian Series Champion, David Hebert, 2007 Applefest Shootout, and Mr. DIRTcar Champion, Mario Clair, as well as Quebec Modified stand-out, Steve Bernard.
Qualifying from the Lucas Oil Shootout Series is 2009 tour champion and defending winner of the ‘Clash’, Pete Bicknell. Pete won the inaugural running of this event in 2006. Joining Bicknell will be 2009 Lucas Oil Shootout Series runner-up, Chad Brachmann, and 358 Rookie, Mat Williamson.
The winners of the Applefest Shootout qualifying heats from that evening will fill the remaining four starting positions in the Lucas Oil Clash For Cash. If one of the six guaranteed drivers is not able to attend, the next driver in attendance, by their respective point standings, will fill the position.
Together the Lucas Oil Clash For Cash 15-lap event and the 50-lap Applefest Shootout boast an impressive purse of nearly $20,000.00.
"It is a purse structure that keeps everybody happy, from the little guy to the big dollar teams,” states track promoter, Mark Rinaldi. The ten drivers that make the Clash For Cash will be guaranteed to go home with a minimum $650.00; and if one of these drivers can pull off the double-win, they will walk away from the Brighton Speedway with $3,500.00 in their pocket!"
350 Modified teams wishing to do so will also have an opportunity to practice on night one of Applefest, on Friday when DIRTcar Sportsmen headline the show for the Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup.
This is all part of the Cool 100.1 Applefest Shootout weekend that kicks off Friday night at 7:30pm. A complete weekend schedule, ticket pricing and purse details can be found at www.imagefactor.ca/applefestshootout -- or for track information visit www.brightonspeedway.com.
