Lucas Oil Products Backs Sportsman Cup for 7th Season

Friday, February 6, 2015

(London, ON) – Lucas Oil Products and the National Stock Car Association (NSCA) will again join forces in 2015 for the Ontario-wide tour, the Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup.  For Lucas Oil Products, it will mark the seventh season as a title sponsor on the tour, which will sanction seven events for some of the top drivers in Ontario, as the teams will compete at five different venues.

Series director Dave Alexander spoke about the announcement, and the tremendous partnership between the NSCA and Lucas Oil Products.  "We are thrilled to be carrying the Lucas Oil brand on our series again as a title sponsor.  It has been a tremendous relationship, and we are so proud to have a company like Lucas Oil Products involved with our series.  Lucas Oil Products are known for their performance and quality, and we think that pairs up well with our series, consisting of quality teams and drivers, high performance cars, and exciting events."

Alexander continued, "Since we became partners more and more of our teams have been using their products in their high performance race cars, and have given everyone testimonial to the quality and performance of their products.  Between off season promotions, and our events throughout the racing season, our teams have assisting in making Lucas Oil Products a brand associated with all the events our teams attend.  It's exciting to be entering our seventh year as a partner with Lucas, as well as all of the other companies that enhance their marketing efforts by being involved with our series."

In another huge announcement for the Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup, an existing relationship was renewed with higher stakes in 2015.  After a part-time broadcasting schedule for the past three seasons, in 2014 every event of the Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup will be presented live on www.racetimeradio.com.

Alexander spoke about the partnership with Race Time Radio, "Joe Chisholm and his crew have done a tremendous job with their broadcasts in the past.  It's been a bonus for our teams and our marketing partners, as they have been able to get some additional exposure, but the biggest winners have been our fans who can catch all the action when they can't make it to the track.  In 2015 we are very fortunate that Race Time Radio will be doing all of our events, from the opener and season finale at Full Throttle Motor Speedway, and everything in between."

The series will visit Full Throttle Motor Speedway twice after not racing at the facility in 2014, in addition to a pair of events at Flamboro Speedway.  Single events will return to Delaware Speedway, Peterborough Speedway, and Sauble Speedway.

Three-time, and defending champion Shawn McGlynn, of Kitchener, will return to try and make it three straight in 2015, but it will be no easy task for him and his white #81 Ford Mustang.  Last season, McGlynn had a few strokes of bad luck early in the year, but was able to rip off a four-race win streak at mid-season, taking the points lead, and winning the championship again.

Brennan Didero, of Brantford, Dave Connelly, of Arnprior, Doug Cathcart, of Ottawa, Chad McGlynn, of Kitchener, and Josh Wood, of London, are all top runners, and will again compete for victories in 2015, while it's quite possible that a number of them could be in the championship picture when the tour wraps up in September.
